What Comes Next on the Blufflands?

jonathanrigden

As we begin the new year, it's nice to reflect on the accomplishments of Friends of the Blufflands in the past year, as Mike O'Brien did so effectively in this post: https://www.friendsoftheblufflands.org/post/the-blufflands-2024-review-in-pictures-mike-o-briengood. It's also important to consider what lies ahead. What will be our focus in 2025? How should we approach it? Whether restoring a prairie like Stry Prairie on Miller Bluff,

or planting spring ephemerals on the north slope of Grandad Bluff like these trout lilies,

or nurturing newly planted trees like these on the corner of F and FA on the way to Upper Hixon,

having a plan is important. This is where Management Plans and Annual Work Plans come into play. Friends of the Blufflands is fortunate to be able to collaborate with experts at The Prairie Enthusiasts to assist us with these plans. Even though it is not possible to spell out all the details, it is helpful to have an outline about what comes next. Sometimes it is obvious, but other times it's tricky.

Here's a puzzle for you:

111221

312211

Now, what comes next. What's the next line?

Here's a clue- Remember West Side Story and the song "Maria" with the line, "Say it loud and there's music playing, ..."? Well, give it a try and you might solve the puzzle! Then pause and think about your next move in the Blufflands...or in life! It might be obvious but it could be tricky!
